Tibial pseudarthrosis (4)

Patient with pseudarthrosis of distal tibia with intramedullary nail fixation. The nail had to be replaced because it protruded into the knee joint.

Treatment consisted of removal of the nail, curettage of the pseudarthrosis focal point, plate osteosynthesis and bone graft insertion comprising 70 million bone marrow stem cells selected and cultured with the Aastrom Replicell bioreactor at the Barcelona Blood and Tissue Bank. The patient's progression was satisfactory and consolidation was achieved 6 months after the operation.
