Genolier, Switzerland, 21 November 2025 — The Institute for Regenerative Tissue Therapy (ITRT) participated as an invited speaker at the first edition of the Swiss Medical Network Regenerative Day, held at the Genolier Innovation Hub (Switzerland). The event, organised by Swiss Medical Network at the Genolier Innovation Hub, was orchestrated by Dr Philippe Glasson (chair of the medical coordination group and vice-chair of the board of directors) and moderated by Prof Dr Victor Valderrabano, bringing together international experts from Mayo Clinic, IATROS Ortho Health Munich, CHUV and Swiss Stem Cells Biotech to address the current state and future perspectives of regenerative medicine applied to musculoskeletal pathologies.
Dr Robert Soler Rich, MD, PhD, co-founder and medical director of ITRT, presented the talk titled “Unprecedented tendon regeneration: ITRT’s breakthrough with cultured mesenchymal stem cells“, in which he presented clinical and imaging evidence obtained through advanced therapy medicinal products individually authorised by the Spanish Agency of Medicines and Medical Devices (AEMPS).
Structural regeneration demonstrated by magnetic resonance imaging
During his presentation, Dr Soler showed multiple magnetic resonance images from real patients demonstrating complete structural regeneration of patellar, Achilles, supraspinatus and hamstring tendons treated with Cultured Mesenchymal Cells (CMC). The images, corresponding to patient follow-ups performed at 12 and 24 months, show recovery of tendon tissue thickness, continuity and signal, accompanied by significant functional improvement and return to high-level sports activity.
Dr Soler emphasised that these results come from advanced therapy medicinal products manufactured under Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) regulations in authorised clean rooms, with rigorous cellular characterisation and quality control, and administered through personalised cell dosing. This methodology contrasts radically with immediate-application products obtained by centrifugation in the operating theatre, which lack regulatory validation, cellular characterisation and scientific evidence of tissue regeneration.
Regulatory differentiation as a pillar of scientific credibility

One of the central messages of the presentation was the importance of distinguishing between regulated cellular medicines and unauthorised biological products. Dr Soler highlighted that ITRT has completed 23 clinical trials authorised by AEMPS, treating more than 1,800 patients with over 3,000 doses administered, generating scientific evidence published in international indexed journals.
The presentation generated great interest among attendees, with multiple questions during the Q&A session focused on patient selection criteria, cellular manufacturing protocols, recovery times and methodological differences compared to other biological approaches. Dr Soler also participated in the final round table “Next steps in regenerative medicine”, alongside Dino Cauzza (CEO of Swiss Medical Network) and Dr Daniel Saris (Mayo Clinic).
International recognition and shared vision
“Participating in the first edition of the Swiss Medical Network Regenerative Day has been an honour and a unique opportunity to present to a world-class international panel the scientific evidence supporting structural tendon regeneration through advanced therapy medicinal products authorised by AEMPS“, stated Dr Robert Soler after the event.
The strategic vision presented by Dino Cauzza, CEO of Swiss Medical Network, emphasised a paradigm shift in musculoskeletal medicine: evolving towards functional regeneration, prioritising structural recovery over symptomatic treatment, and advancing towards personalised, less invasive and more durable medicine. This philosophy is fully aligned with ITRT’s mission, which for over 20 years has been developing advanced therapy medicinal products based on rigorous clinical trials and regulatory approval.
Acknowledgement

ITRT thanks Swiss Medical Network, Dr Philippe Glasson, Prof Dr Victor Valderrabano, Swiss Stem Cells Biotech, and all international speakers for the opportunity to participate in this historic first edition of Regenerative Day, a space for scientific exchange that marks a turning point in the development of regenerative medicine based on clinical evidence and rigorous health regulation.
