On March 21–22, the Grand Hotel Dino in Baveno, Italy, hosted Joint Challenge 2025—an international forum that brought together leading experts in orthopaedics, rheumatology, sports medicine and rehabilitation to explore multidisciplinary approaches to managing musculoskeletal pain.
The event provided a high-level scientific platform focused on personalised treatment for both acute and chronic pain, the importance of early intervention, and the role of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, virtual reality and advanced pharmaceutical solutions. Dedicated sessions also addressed sports injuries and comprehensive approaches to osteoarthritis, with a strong emphasis on evidence-based practice and patient well-being.

Dani Pedrosa’s recovery after cultured mesenchymal cell therapy for a complex clavicle fracture
Dr. Robert Soler presented the case of Dani Pedrosa, who achieved significant recovery after suffering from chronic pain due to a complex clavicle fracture. The intervention combined cultured mesenchymal cells, plasma and lyophilised bone, applied directly to the fracture site.

Pedrosa had been dealing with this injury since 2011, undergoing multiple surgeries with periods of improvement followed by constant setbacks. In 2019, after suffering a new fracture from minimal physical effort, Dr. Robert Soler, co-medical director of ITRT, alongside his partner Dr. Lluís Orozco, led a groundbreaking regenerative procedure. This innovative treatment involved the direct application of 40 million cultured mesenchymal cells, plasma, and lyophilized bone to the affected area. The therapy enabled the complete consolidation of the bone, as confirmed by a follow-up CT scan in 2021.
His case stood out as one of the highlights of the congress, reinforcing ITRT’s leadership in the clinical application of cultured mesenchymal cells for tissue regeneration.
